Brungo Family Dentistry provides all aspects of general dentistry including the following. Please contact our office if you would like any additional information of any of these procedures or any that may not appear below.
Dental bonding is a procedure where a tooth-colored resin material is bonded to the tooth with a special curing light to restore or improve a patient's smile.
Types of dental treatment that are performed to improve a patient's smile and aesthetics. The can include veneers, porcelain inlays, onlays, and crowns, and tooth-colored fillings. The goal with cosmetic procedures is to have a final result that looks as natural as possible.
Crown and Bridge
A crown is a "cap" that’s placed over a weak or damaged tooth to restore its ideal shape, strength, or appearance. Crowns can be made of metal, porcelain fused to metal, resin, or ceramics. A bridge is a series of crowns fused together to replace one or more missing teeth.
Dentures and Partials
A denture is a removable tooth replacement used when all the teeth are missing. Dentures can also be made to lock on over implants. These implant retained dentures are very retentive. Partial dentures are used when some of the natural teeth remain. "Invisible" clips can be placed to hold the partial onto existing natural teeth.
A dental extraction, sometimes referred to as exodontia, is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to prevent restoration or a fracture that is beyond repair. We refer most extractions to our local oral surgeons.
Gum treatment is the treatment of active periodontal disease of the gums and bone. Gum disease treatment can slow or stop the progression of gum disease.
Dental implants are permanent tooth replacements. They replace the entire tooth by restoring the root and the crown. Implants can hold a crown, bridge or denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place. Implants are a great way to replace a missing tooth or missing teeth because they last a very long time. Since implants are titanium they are not able to decay which is the most common reason why crowns on natural teeth are replaced. Implants also prevent the need to remove healthy tooth structure of adjacent teeth that would be necessary when using a bridge to replace missing teeth.
"Invisible" braces use a series of thin removable clear, plastic mouthpieces to gradually move the teeth into alignment. This can usually be done completely without the use of metal braces.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Also know as "Laughing Gas", nitrous oxide is an odorless gas that a patient breathes through a nasal mask. It is very safe and effective at reducing patient's anxiety about dental treatment.
Braces can be used to correct crooked or misaligned teeth to improve the appearance of your smile. Braces work by applying steady pressure over time to slowly move teeth into alignment. We believe that preventative orthodontics started at an early age can, can both decrease the treatment time in braces and make a more stable result. Dr. Ron has been providing orthodontic treatment since 1995 while in the US Public Health Service. He has continued his training and maintains a membership in the American Orthodontic Society.
We treat children of all ages for preventive oral health, treatment of dental diseases, and the prevention and treatment of misaligned occlusions.
Prevention is the key to developing a long and health smile. We recommended at least six month exam and cleanings to keep your teeth in god shape and prevent small problems from becoming bigger.
Root Canal Treatment
The treatment to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes abscessed. During a root canal procedure, the nerve is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed with a root canal filling. We refer most root canals to our local endodontists.
Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from tooth decay by keeping germs and food particles out of these grooves.
Veneers are very thin shells that cover the front surface of teeth only to change their shade, shape, or length. Veneers can be made of porcelain or resin and are more conservative than crowns.
Tooth whitening is a quick and easy way for our patients to enhance their smiles by removing the stains and discoloration that can build up over time. Teeth can become stained from coffee, tea, and soda. It can also be caused by aging, smoking, and the need for root canals. Our office uses a take-home whitening system that has been proven to be very safe and effective. Generally, you can whiten your teeth in 2-3 weeks using the material for 1-2 hours per day or while you sleep. Your teeth can stay at the whitened level for 3-5 years although some patients desire to use a "touch up " procedure every 9-12 months to keep their smile whitened. There are usually no side effects to whitening your teeth except for some occasional sensitivity. This sensitivity will subside when the whitening process is complete.
When the harmony between your teeth, jaw muscles, and temporomandibular joints no longer exists, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD) is the name for the resulting pain and discomfort. The acronyms of TMJ and TMD are generally used synonymously when describing symptoms associated with the jaw joint. Some of the most common symptoms are: headaches, migraines, pain behind the eyes, back/neck pain, jaw joint pain, limited opening of your jaw, loose teeth, clenching/grinding, facial pain, sensitive teeth, hot and cold sensitivity, chewing difficulties, and inability to sleep. There are specific treatments designed to help alleviate your discomfort. A comprehensive exam will be performed and a treatment plan will be presented to treat your specific needs.
Our office now uses a digital radiography plate system to reduce radiation and improve the diagnostic capabilities of your dental x-rays. As the most important member of your dental team, you need to fully understand the condition of your oral health, as well as any recommendations we make for treatment. Digital radiographs help us help you. Digital X-rays offer unparalleled benefits over traditional radiographs because they’re convenient, safe for the environment, provide a great opportunity for patient education, and best of all, they’re safer for our patients.
Fixed Implant Hybrid Dentures
We are now able to fabricate and place dentures that are “screwed” in to implants. The “hybrid denture” is referred to as a hybrid because it combines the advantages of a fixed replacement with those of a removable denture. These dentures allow you to function as close as natural teeth as possible by adding stability, esthetics, and increase chewing function. If you are an unhappy denture wearer or you have multiple problematic teeth and you want a non-removable tooth solution, fixed hybrid dentures could be a solution for you.
