DOCTORS
Drs. Maura and Ron Brungo are both originally from Pittsburgh, PA. Maura is a graduate of Penn State University. Her father, Vincent M. Beirne, DDS practiced dentistry for over 47 years in the Pittsburgh area. Ron graduated from Washington and Jefferson College. Maura and Ron met during their dental training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where they graduated in 1993. During their four years at Pitt, they took several additional electives including Handicapped Dentistry and externships in Oral Surgery at Montefiore Hospital and Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Hospital.
Prior to opening their present practice in State College, they spent seven years practicing dentistry with the United States Public Health as Commissioned Officers in the Indian Health Service. Of those seven years, four years were spent on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota working with the Lakota Sioux Indians and three years in Juneau, Alaska serving the Tlinget Alaska Natives.
Both doctors have dedicated themselves to constantly improve their skills through advanced dental education in areas of cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, removable dentures, and implant restorative dentistry. Ron holds a membership in the Academy of General Dentistry and the local Spear Study Club. They both volunteer at the Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) clinic for the uninsured where Ron is also a board member and Dental Director. They also both volunteer at the annual "Give Kids A Smile" dental program. They reside in Boalsburg, have three grown children, and are both active volunteers in their local church and community volunteer activities.
